'Secret Garden - Versailles' is the latest fantasy by Dior. The video, made by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, is a fairy tale of style, luxury and a palace. The graceful Russian model Daria Strokous plays the main character, who as Alice takes us through her romantic dreams. “Enjoy the Silence” by Depeche Mode is the music in the back but by far it is not only background. Young & Restless for Spri...
I recently came across Young & Restless – a fashion label based in Singapore, which is collaboration between Ashburn Eng and MAX.TAN that I met first here. Now my attention caught the Galactic Monastic collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Ashburn Eng found inspiration for the fashion pieces in a night dream he had, where a monk and a lotus were in the main roles. He is inspired by how a single piece of beautiful cloth could be draped, gathered, patched and wrapped to form a cocoon silhouette. That is how the Galactic Monastic collection was born, where the main designer creates a galactic gothic mood and an east-meets-west monastic look. The greater part of the models are with a looser or freer and lighter silhouette through sheer fabrics in black, white, gray and metallic shades.

Winter fashion by Anastas...
Recently I came across the web page of Anastasia Lomonova, who is among the most promising young designers of Canada. Her collection for Fall/Winter 2011 impressed me with concept and masterful interpretation of viewpoints and abstract visions in the form of garments. Originally from Ukraine, Anastasia moved to Cyprus with her parents after collapse of the USSR. Later she moved to Canada, where she specialized in painting before continuing her studies in fashion at the Ryerson University. After graduation, she launched her label in 2007 and since then has numerous achievements and awards in fashion. The label of Anastasia Lomonova explores design that goes beyond seasons, ages, lifestyles and trends. It makes an analysis of conceptual themes, inspired by everything and nothing, which result shows how otherwise abstract, intangible ideas are transformed into ready-to-wear clothes.

The winter garden of Knap...
Femininity, geometry and variety of materials – these are the highlights of "The flower blossom collection" by Knapp for Fall/Winter 2011/2012. The collection is inspired by the 60s style and silhouettes and as a leading symbol the designers of Knapp have used the flower – simple, stylized and almost naive. This time the two lines – main and Knapp Light, are united. The main collection is dominated by cotton, wool and leather for emphasis, and the Light one – by cotton wool and neoprene, supplemented by Lycra. Through this collection Knapp unfolds its idea to develop each model by changing the fabrics it’s made of in order to alter both the sound and adaption of the garments. In terms of color the range includes the inevitable graphic combinations, the strong trend of the season – red, the typical for the brand gray and a bit of the still trendy 'mustard'. Consistent in its steps, Knapp continues with the idea of unity between the symbol of the collection and the print of the linings, which this season remind of gardens painted by a little girl. The brooch – flower, is once again designed by Kalina Chankova, who created the bicycle for the past summer. Face of "The flower blossom collection" by Knapp is Christiana Dimitrova and the photo session for the autumn campaign is by Momchil Hristov. You can check out the look book in the gallery together with photos by Yavor Ivanov from the fashion show.

You got me by Sassa Bjorg
With one of its latest series Sassa Bjorg managed to catch my attention by presenting inspiring suggestions for Fall/ Winter 2011/2012. ‘You got me’ quickly won the hearts of many fashion fans and the greater part of the fashion pieces found their owner for an equally short time. Sassa Bjorg is a fashion brand for unique pieces of clothing designed by Mila Ateva. Their uniqueness is the reason why in the concept of the fashion label stand series with different themes instead of collections. The inspiration comes spontaneously, and the result is often impressive. For example, the mini-series ‘You got me’ was born in a conversation about the singer M.I.A. with Zlatimir Arakliev, who gave the idea and also shot the photo session for the series. Have a look at it in the gallery. In the ‘You got me’ series Mila Ateva uses colors and fabrics that correspond with the theme and are suitable for the season. The models are various and can be easily combined depending on your style and wishes.

Umbrella for two
I came across this product and I immediately thought that it would be great to have an umbrella under which I will be able to accommodate a friend. When I read the product description I realized that the concept was even more interesting. The unusual design ant the materials used makes this umbrella resistant to very strong winds. The aerodynamic form prevents it from turning inside out, and provides a clear line of sight with good rain coverage on the sides and back. In addition, it is not heavier than a standard umbrella, but it will cause many envy eyes on a rainy day. And although it is not patented as an umbrella for two, I think this possibility remains;)

Cashmere Coat
A friend of mine asked me in what type of coat should he ‘invest’ in for the new winter season 2011/ 2012. One of my suggestions was that cashmere coat by J. Crew with a true-to-tradition silhouette, which is a great addition to the wardrobe of any modern man, no matter what he does or works. Exceptionally well designed and with authentic details – silver buttons, military-inspired shoulder straps, the coat is excellently tailored inside and out. The model has double-breasted buttoning, a sufficient number of pockets, non-adjustable reinforcement belt etc. Overall, J. Crew Cashmere Regent Peacoat is a really good choice and can serve you faithfully for years.

MAXTAN SS 2012
Some time ago I have mentioned about MAX.TAN – a fashion label that impressed me with their debut collection in 2010. Now, I am once again pleasantly surprised by their new collection called ‘Liberate’ for Spring/ Summer 2012. A combination of eastern understanding of drapery and western precision in tailoring, ‘Liberate’ recreates the Asian faith traditions on clothing similar to robes in a square form. Precision drafting and menswear elements are formed into new identities to reveal the best of the soft geometrical shapes. The collection of MAX.TAN for the summer season of 2012 states that fashion at its purest form must begin and end with fine construction even when strict tailoring rules are liberated.
